In the final regular-season slate of action in the “Eli’s Homemade Schnitzel” Israel Basketball League, several teams notched crucial victories, heading into the playoffs.
In their final regular-season game, Symphony Care Network (SCN) matched up against Imrei Binah. Yisroel Wasser started out hot for SCN, racking up multiple 3-pointers. Rabbi Weismann was effective as well, bullying Imrei in the paint for easy points. But it was Imrei's Zack Weiner who was the star of the game, converting on just about every shot he took. Weiner recorded a near-perfect 9 for 11, finishing with 23 points, as well as several key rebounds, as SCN pulled away with a late second-half run to win 52-37.
Mirwis took on Klass in a defensive showdown that went down to the final minutes. Mirwis started the game hot, playing stellar defense leading to multiple steals and fast-break buckets. Their guards were hard to guard, creating opportunities with their incredible ball-handling skills. Klass used their guards as well, with Klaman Sussman taking control and draining several midrange jumpers to keep Klass in the game. It was a contested battle, but Mirwis pulled away with a 35-29 victory to push them ahead in the standings heading into the playoffs.
Team Dasmen started off their game against Team 305 hot, setting off-ball picks leading to wide-open midrange jumpers. Things weren’t looking good for Team 305 until they went on a crazy run late in the second half. With a 9-point deficit, Yosef Benmergui hit a 3-pointer and was fouled. He hit the free throw to put them within 5. On their next two possessions, Benmergui hit another 3 and his cousin, Moshe Chaim Benmergui, hit a 3 and 1, which put them up by 2. The game was tied with 11 seconds left and, with the ball in his hands, Dasman captain Raphy Gammerman delivered, hitting a contested layup to win the game 58-56.
In other action to finish up the regular season, we saw the Hebrew Hoopers steal a 57-54 victory against Cyclone Investment, Meaningful Minute pull away 65-43 against the B-Wood Ballers, and Lev Heat deliver in a showdown against Baby Korn, winning 54-38. With the regular season finale complete, teams will face off this coming week in a head-to-head, single-elimination playoff race.
